Xabi Alonso, whose full name is Xabier Alonso Olano, is a highly respected Spanish football manager and former professional player. He is currently the manager of Bayer Leverkusen.

As a player, Alonso was a central midfielder renowned for his passing range, tactical awareness, and work rate. He started his senior career at Real Sociedad, quickly becoming a key player and eventually captain.

He moved to Liverpool in 2004, where he won the Champions League in his first season and the FA Cup in 2006.

In 2009, he joined Real Madrid, winning La Liga in 2012 and another Champions League title in 2014.

Alonso concluded his playing career at Bayern Munich, where he played from 2014 to 2017 and won three consecutive Bundesliga titles.

At the international level, Alonso was a key member of the Spanish national team that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.
